VPA Scholarships

Raymond R. Mooney Scholarship:

"The Trustees of the Association shall select from qualified applicants a Vermont high school student attending an accredited postsecondary school or an undergraduate student attending an accredited postsecondary school, approved for federal Title IV funding, seeking education or training (academic, vocational, technical or advanced) in a field related to emergency services. One $1,000.00 scholarship annually."

Erwin Bugbee Memorial Scholarship:

"The Trustees of the Association shall select from qualified applicants a Vermont high school student attending an accredited postsecondary school or an undergraduate student attending an accredited postsecondary school, approved for federal Title IV funding, seeking a degree in law enforcement and is found to be worthy of the Association's support`. One $1,000.00 scholarship annually."

Herbert Fullam Scholarship:

"The Trustees of the Association shall select from qualified applications the child of a police officer, who is a member of the Association who is in good standing, who is pursuing a college degree and is found to be worthy of the Association’s financial support."

Gene Gaiotti/Ron West Memorial Scholarship:

"The Trustees of the Association shall select any qualified member in good standing or child of a member who is pursuing a college degree and is found to be worthy of the association’s financial support."

Ethan Parro, Waterbury VT - Fullam Scholarship, attending Vermont Technical College

Kristen Wright, Barton VT - Bugbee Scholarship, attending Lyndon State College 

Kimberly Merrill, W. Glover VT - Gaiotti/West Scholarship, attending Colby Sawyer College

Hank Havercoch Sports Award:

"Effective calendar year 2002, the Trustees of the Association shall select qualified Association members in good standing that have applied for financial assistance towards a community youth athletic program that they are involved with.  The awards will be based upon a maximum monetary yearly amount divided by the number of selected members."

President's Continuing Education Scholarship:

"Effective calendar year 2003, the Trustees of the Association shall select up to 5 qualified Association members in good standing that are full-time employees of their agency for an educational monetary reimbursement for college level coursework.  The applicants must state an identified goal for the request, have a financial need, and successfully complete the coursework based upon committee distribution requirements.  Awards will be based upon a maximum monetary yearly amount divided by the number of selected members, not to exceed the amount of the course.  If the qualified applicants exceed 5, the selection shall be by lottery."
